Diagnostic of school maturity of children with impaired communication ability

This thesis deals with the issue of school readiness of children with speech difficulties in the preschool period. The theoretical part of the thesis describes in detail the areas of preschool child development, as well as communication of the preschool child, school maturity and readiness, and diagnosis of school maturity and readiness. In the practical part of the thesis, qualitative research is conducted using a diagnostic method to assess school maturity in children with impaired communication skills who are awaiting entry into primary school. Subsequently, individual speech and language therapy interventions are designed for those children who, based on the results of the assessment, are ready to enter primary school. The aim of the work is to contribute to a better understanding of the issue of school readiness of children with impaired communication skills and to provide practical tools to support the communication skills of these children in preparation for entry into primary school. The design of the speech therapy intervention serves as a complement to home practice before starting primary school. Basic concepts relating to communication and as well as to processed individual categories of communication disorder skills of children before entering the elementary school are defined in the theoretical part of the work. Further the development of a child under the age of six years based on the study of professional sources is outlined including its psychomotor, cognitive and speech development. The final theoretical part is focused on both the possibilities of intervention in case of children suffering from communication disorders and at the speech therapy system for these children before entering the elementary school. Communication ability of children living in institutional upbringing facilities

This thesis deals with the communication ability of children living in institutional upbringing facilities. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The first part of the thesis, which was created on the basis of perusing technical and specialized literature, provides a theoretical insight into the problematic of communication, speech and language. It also discusses the development of speech, communication abilities of pre-school children and their development. Last chapter of this thesis deals with substitutional child care, its definition. Practical part is devoted to qualitative research, whose main objective is to analyze the communication ability of children living in institutional upbringing facilities. The research was conducted in children's home and in Klokanek, a facility for children requiring immediate help. The research sample consisted of eight children, four of them living in children's home, four of them living in Klokanek. The research shows that in the investigated children appear difficulties in communication skills. As a conclusion a recommendation for practice was created. Development of communication abilities in premature infants

The presented thesis deals with the topic of development of communication abilities in preterm infants from the perspective of special education. The thesis is for clarity divided into several parts. In the first part of the text the issue of incidence of premature births in the Czech Republic is discussed, following subsections are devoted to the definition and distribution of characteristics bonding with immaturity of child and approach selected health problems associated with postpartum adaptation and subsequent psychomotor development of child. The following chapter which analyzes the system of care for premature newborns in the Czech Republic focuses on two forms of care, acute care and followed-up. Next part has been devoted to issue of premature infants from logopedical perspective and describes the physiological process of development of communication abilities of child and based on current knowledge, especially foreign research, analyzes the peculiarities of speech development of preterm infants. The last and key part of the work, based on case studies, analyzes the specifics of development of communication abilities of four originally extremely and very preterm children of multiple pregnancies in the background of the their overall psychomotor development. Phonological abilities of children with dyslalia in preschool age

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of phonological abilities of children with dyslalia in preschool age. The main goal of the thesis lies therefore in the analysis of the phonological abilities of the stated target group. Based on the main goal, partial objectives and research questions were defined. A method of qualitative research strategy - a case study was used to fulfil the objectives of the thesis. To gather the data, test methods and analysis of the available documents were used. To create a comprehensive picture of the monitored children, the methods mentioned above were supplemented with an interview with a clinical speech therapist. The thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical part and the empirical part. The theoretical part consists of three chapters. The first chapter deals with the definition of key terms such as communication, communication skills, as well as the development of speech, language and communication. In this chapter, attention is paid also to a preschool child. The second chapter describes the issue of phonological abilities, which are presented in the context of the phonetic- phonological language level. The last chapter looks into the issue of dyslalia. The role of parents during the development of communication skills of preschool children

The diploma thesis is of a special pedagogy type and focuses on speech therapy. The thesis deals with the role of parents during the development of communication skills of preschool children in particular. The thesis is divided into the theoretical part and the practical part. The introductory chapter of the theoretical part characterizes a child of preschool age with regard to the development of motor skills, cognitive processes and social skills. The second chapter discusses the issue of communication skills of preschool children in more detail. It includes risk factors for speech development, the most common impairments of communication skills of preschool children and the possibilities of speech therapy intervention. The third chapter is devoted to the family environment in connection with its influence on the development of a child's communication skills. This diploma thesis deals with communication skills of people with moderate mental disabilities in institutional care. The theoretical framework is divided into three chapters. The first chapter focuses on adults with moderate mental disabilities. First, it defines and characterizes adulthood, further defines and classifies mental disability and lastly characterizes adult individuals with mental disabilities. The next chapter is devoted to communication, which is defined along with communication skills. This chapter also describes symptomatic speech disorders of people with mental disabilities and individual language levels and the impact of mental disability on them in detail. The last chapter of the theoretical part approaches the support of people with mental disabilities in the framework of social services. First of all, it focuses on the history of social services for people with mental disabilities, then on the legislative consolidation of social services. The diploma thesis "Manifestations in the language levels of the 1st grade pupils of the regular elemntary school" consists of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with general terms from the area of speech and language development, describes the development of motor skills, auditory and visual perception. Furthermore, it describes individual language levels and the most common types of speech disorders encountered in primary school pupils. The research part of the thesis is devoted to the analysis of speech manifestations on individual levels of pupils of the first grade of the regular elementary school. The partial aim of the research is to analyze the gross, fine and oromotorics of the examined children, to analyze their auditory and visual perception and to analyze the quality of all language levels.
